Armed insurgents in Syria have been aided by British intelligence agents, according to a so-called opposition official.

The Sunday Times reported that the disclosure by the unnamed official showed that British intelligence is playing a covert role in the anti-Syria campaign.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.
