Sadly, my experience with Texans is that they are bible-thumping climate denial idiots. So the facts you present won't make a whit of difference. The real world just isn't "real" to them. Heads in the clouds, rapture-ready rubes. If anything, it's Satan's fault for screwing with the weather.
