Propaganda and counter-propaganda on the Ukraine

This is the western liberal media for you.

When push- comes-to shove they fall right in line with the imperialist policies of their own government and become, Like the Guardian, the attack dogs for propaganda against Russia.

Because they have some credibility in other areas, they become 'believable' when it comes to geo-political politics.

These comments leaped out at me  this morning. They are from an article from the - Huffington Post - New York Times Budget Reporting Looks Like RT on Ukraine

“RT, the Russian government-owned English-language television network, has been the butt of much humor in recent days. It has mindlessly repeated Russian propaganda surrounding the events in Ukraine. The ridicule is well-deserved. News organizations are supposed to inform readers about the world, not make stuff up.”

Well, so far the only media that has been caught with its trousers down, making things up – has been the western media which first parroted the line that snipers from the Yanukovych government were firing on innocent demonstrators (ignoring the fact that police were also killed by the snipers).

When the Victoria Nuland tapes were released the western media ignored the fact that most of the taped conversation was about planning a coup d'etat and concentrated exclusively on the words “fuck the EU!”

Well, how inconvenient that another tape has appeared with a conversation between the EU's Cathryn Ashton and the Estonian FM, in which both discuss their trips to the Ukraine. Towards the end the FM states that it has been revealed to him that its was elements on the Maidan (now in the interim government) that were behind the sniper attack, not Yanukovych.

It is very hard to spin this, so predictably, the western media (including the liberal Guardian and Huff Post) have been silent about this, despite the Estonian foreign ministry (no friend of the Kremlin!) having acknowledged its veracity.

I have no doubt that Russians are waving their own propaganda (or perhaps, more accurately, counter – propaganda) campaign, but I've yet to find anything that even approaches the lies of western media.

What are they going to admit in a proper debate, that most of the commentary on RT comes from the West - from highly-placed people who now find themselves highly critical of western imperial expansion.

Are these people just 'Kremlin stooges'?

Is CNN's ex- presenter, Larry King a Kremlin stooge because he has a program on RT?

If anything, RT have been trying valiantly to counter propaganda from the West that is clearly ridiculous.

One case in point is the claim that Russian tanks are roaming Crimea – the Ukrainian Yats even claiming that Russian tanks were in the Ukraine – something that journalists had to filter out of their reports.
