Life

Life is Short, and Urgent
Guy McPherson

15 March, 2014

Guy McPherson reminds us that we should strive to “make our lives worthy of the few years we spend on this most wondrous of planets.” —

The Buddha asked one of his students how often the student thought about death. The student replied, “Very often. Probably one hundred times each day.”

The Buddha responded, “you must think about death with every breath.”

Life is short, and urgent. We ought to treat life with urgency. Contrary to popular sentiment, we don’t live once. Rather, we live every day. But we only die once

Let’s make our lives worthy of the few years we spend on this most wondrous of planets. Let’s treat our limited time with awe and wonder and respect. Let’s treat other humans similarly. While we’re at it, let’s extend the awe, wonder, and respect to the entire planet.
