Record outdoor radiation level detected at Fukushima plant

7 December, 2013

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Dec. 6 it detected the highest estimated radiation level for an outdoor location at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant.

The reading of 25 sieverts per hour was taken on steel piping near an exhaust stack for the No. 1 and No. 2 reactors, TEPCO said.

The utility earlier said high radiation levels of at least 10 sieverts per hour were found on the piping.

TEPCO measured airborne radiation at eight locations around the piping to calculate surface radiation on two spots with particularly high readings, and found about 25 sieverts per hour and about 15 sieverts per hour, the company said.

A TEPCO official said radioactive materials derived from melted fuel likely entered the piping during venting soon after the accident occurred in March 2011 and have remained there.

7,500,000 Bq/m3 of “Strontium-90″ detected from groundwater near reactor1

8 December, 2013

7,500,000 Bq/m3 of “Strontium-90″ was measured from groundwater. The sampling date was 9/11/2013. They haven’t announced it for 3 months.
The location is in the seaside of reactor1. Tepco has been analyzing the groundwater around the reactor buildings.
This November, Tepco confirmed reactor1 directly leaking the coolant water out of the vessel.

Groundwater level rising at 800m from the coastal line

8 December, 2013

Related to this article.. Tepco gave up pumping up the rising contaminated groundwater on the seaside of reactor3 / “No tank capacity” [URL]
The groundwater level is also rising in the mountain side of Fukushima plant, according to Tepco. It’s approx. 800m from the coastal line, where a underground reservoir is located.

From 11/29 to 12/1/2013, all β nuclide density increased from 8,600,000 Bq/m3 to 20,000,000 Bq/m3 in the leakage detector hole water of the reservoir, which made Tepco realize the rising groundwater level. Tepco is attempting to stop the reservoir from floating.

Because of the underground wall on the coastal line, groundwater level is increasing in various places near the sea. However, Tepco hasn’t officially admitted the groundwater level is also rising even in the mountain side of the plant area widely, and it can be due to the underground wall, which can be the only cause.

The rising groundwater level also increases the atmospheric dose of seaside. (cf, Fukushima plant radiation increasing due to the rising contaminated groundwater / “Covering with lead plate” [URL 2])

This October, Fukushima plant area even experienced the major land subsidence. It was supposed to be solely because of a typhoon.

Fukushima: The ‘Real Nightmare’ Is Coming (Video)

7 December, 2013

By Susan Duclos

Via ENENews, quoting BBC, we see the work on Unit 4 of Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear plant, which the global community and the world is watching with bated breath, is nothing more than a “distraction” and the “easy bit” because Unit 4 didn’t suffer a meltdown and the “real nightmare” is coming from Units 1,2 and 3, where actual meltdowns occurred.

Reactor buildings 1, 2, and 3 where there were core meltdowns, the radiation levels there are still way too high for anyone to go in those buildings. So I think Reactors 1, 2, and 3, the reactors that had core meltdowns, are the real long-term problem, and a very difficult problem to deal with. Reactor 4 is a bit of a distraction. It’s important to get the fuel out, but it is the easy bit.

The same article also quotes the NYT with bad news on top of bad new, stating “Melted fuel is “all over the place… First goal is simply to stop uncontrolled releases of radioactive material.”

Last but not least, Global Research headlines with “The Fukushima Coverup: “Biggest Industrial Catastrophe in the History of Mankind”

The video below starts as a live event and when the event is over it will be viewable as a regular video. To join in the Fukushima discussion with BeautifuGirlByDana and viewing and interacting, you can comment, ask questions and join in over at the YouTube URL here.

Join in folks, discuss, debate, talk about it because ignoring it is not going to make it go away…. the real nightmare is coming…..
