Video: It's 'Raining Spiders' in Brazil

9 February, 2013

A video has surfaced online that shows "raining spiders" falling on a town in Brazil. An observer captured the footage and posted it on YouTube.
As a major snowstorm falls on Northeastern U.S. and parts of Canada, down in the Southern Hemisphere, it appeared to be "raining spiders" this week in one area of Brazil.

According to a video posted on YouTube on Feb. 7 2013, thousands of spiders were "falling" from the sky in Brazil.

Titled "Raining Spiders", the video's uploader, user acoisacoisada1, said:
"Hundreds (maybe thousands) of spiders congregate between poles in the town of Santo Antonio de Plantina / PR. Still do not know what causes such behavior, we are researching and will post the answer [to the question here]" (translated via Google).

Watching the 4.5 minute video, a remarkable number of spiders give the appearance of "flying" across the sky in concentrated numbers; some of them appear to be on the large side.

According to an earlier report by The Epoch Times, this is not the first time "raining spiders" has seemingly happened. In 2007 a man in Argentina captured pictures of a spider rain. At the time, these images were considered a rarity to catch this phenomenal experience on camera.

The man, Christian Oneto Gaona, told the media the incident was more of a "science fiction movie than reality".

YouTube user acoisacoisada1's video appears to be going viral. After all, it's not every day one gets to see it raining spiders.

On Friday afternoon the video had about 1,400 views, but on Saturday the page views are closing in on 100,000.
