PNG's Fire Hidden Under the Ground

This programme from last Sunday's Insight documentary on Radio New Zealand describes a situation in our own region - the grab for energy and mineral resources which is destroying the environment and the way of life of the people of Papua New Guinea.

This is an excellent illustratation of what is happening worldwide - why this infinite growth paradigm has to be killed before it kills us.

"Papua New Guinea is experiencing an unprecedented resources boom with a liquified natural gas project  the largest development.

But even before production starts, there is major discontent in the Highlands region over the gas project and the threat it poses to a way of life the people there have known for centuries.

In this Insight, Radio New Zealand International's Johnny Blades  goes to PNG to ask what kind of change  the resources boom could bring and  who is benefitting?"
