'The Ocean is Broken' - interview

An interview with the man, Ivan McFadyen,  who has become famous since his story The Ocean is Broken went viral.

The interviewer, Jim Mora, I suspect of being a climate change denier and would have no interest of making the connection with Fukushima radiation, ocean acidification or anything else.

'The Dead Ocean' - Ivan Macfadyen

Newcastle yachtsman Ivan Macfadyen's firsthand account of the Pacific Ocean, which he describes as 'broken' and 'dead'. Ten years ago Ivan charted a course between Melbourne and Osaka. He could throw out a line on that trip and catch a fish anywhere, anytime. Now, Ivan says, sailing along that same route, he came to a dead ocean - no fish, no birds. Hardly a sign of life.

  1. We're leaving a strange and ugly legacy. Any kind of bacteria which evolves a mechanism for metabolizing plastic will gain an evolutionary advantage.
