The Greens want a "richer"New Zealand

Just to remind me of why I left the Green Party – they've lost their principles and joined the political game - and are dishonest to boot.

How about warning New Zealanders about the collapse of human industrial society, about runaway climate change.

But that won't win you votes will it Dr. Norman?

Greens want a Budget that makes NZ richer

Kia ora
Government Budgets should be about investing in the future for all of us: the future of our environment, our people and our economy.
But today's Budget was all about throwing debt onto future generations.
  • It was a triple deficit budget:
  • An environmental deficit of greenhouse emissions and water contamination.
  • A social deficit of inequality, poverty and unaffordable housing.
  • An economic deficit of massive foreign debt: it projected $200 billion net debt to the rest of the world by 2017.
  • National are trying to pull the wool over your eyes by focussing on a possible Budget surplus in June 2015.

But the real story is that the country's deficit to the rest of the world is out of control at more than $10 billion a year. We cover this deficit by borrowing more from overseas and by selling New Zealand land and assets. And the environmental and social deficits are growing rapidly.
This is a Government of the 2% for the 2%, that is making the country poorer in the long term. But it doesn't care as long as the 2% get richer in the short term.
By being part of the Green solution you are helping us to work for all of New Zealand.
When people hear about this week's Budget, we need to make sure they know that the National Government is only focussed on making life better for the few.

A Government that the Green Party is a part of will work for all New Zealanders, not just for the 2%.
