I didn't expect to be fact-checking

I really have to call BULLSHIT on this.

No one has reported on crop failures more than me, including in Russia,  but I am not going to buy into confirmation bias.

This is fake news.

Russian President Vladimir Putin holds his wheat off the global market? Really?!!

"Droughts had already curbed harvests around the Black Sea in 2018. That tightened domestic grain markets in Russia and Ukraine and heightened global anxiety over whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would hold his wheat off the global market. He did, arguing that supplies were better used at home. Domestic bread prices immediately fell, while in the rest of the world they rose.

"And then, Trump acts like he does not understand why so many people are acting like they are starving."

This season's grain production in Russia has beaten last year's bumper crop and the record harvest set by the USSR in 1978, according to new data revealed by the statistics agency Rosstat.

Russia has harvested around 135.393 million tons of grain, including 85.9 million tons of wheat, during the current growing season. This is a million tons more than the previous record. Russia’s agriculture ministry revised its projections for exports, with 50 million tons of grain now expected to be shipped abroad.

Russia Is Exporting More Wheat Than Any Country in 25 Years

Russia Is Exporting More Wheat Than Any Country in 25 ...

It’s been a long time since any country shipped out as much wheat as Russia.

As estimates for the Black Sea nation’s harvest keep growing, so does the outlook for exports. The world’s top exporter is now expected to sell 36.6 million metric tons overseas, according to consultants SovEcon and the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, or IKAR. The U.S. was the last nation to ship out more, a quarter century ago.
