December, 2018
Two
groups of scouts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to approach
the positions of the DPR in the Gorlovka area, but were rebuffed.
This was stated by the head of the press service of the people’s
militia, Daniel Bezsonov.
The
incident occurred on the night of December 16th in the area of the
settlement of Verkhnetoretsk and Svetlodarsk.
“Our
observers promptly identified an approaching enemy, dragged them into
a trap and fired with small arms, forcing him not only to abandon the
task, but also forced him to run away” Bezsonov said, Donetsk News
Agency quoted him as saying .
During
the unsuccessful raid, five Ukrainian soldiers from the 130th
reconnaissance battalion were injured, and the survivors fled from
the battlefield, leaving their wounded.
Also,
the representative of the DPR noted the activation of the Ukrainian
military forces in the vicinity of Gorlovka, including the use of
drones.
The
armed conflict in the Donbass began in the spring of 2014 and
continues to this day . Residents of the region refused to recognize
the new power of the country, which changed in February of the same
year, and announced the creation of the DPR and the LPR.
In
response, Kiev began the so-called anti-terrorist operation (ATO)
against them, replacing it in April 2018 with the operation of the
combined forces (EP).
