A secret European Union report has warned that economic and trade sanctions being considered against Russia over the Ukraine crisis could have a severe negative effect on Germany, the continent’s biggest economy.
A decade-plus shift in the bedrock of Canada’s economy — both in product and location — may not be over yet. The “considerable structural change” in what we make and where we make it since 2000 is very much apparent today: a declining manufacturing sector and growing reliance on resource-based industries have shaped our economy in ways we might not have expected.

It is incredible that things have fallen so far that a U.S. Senator felt compelled to ask such a question, and even worse that such a powerful official couldn’t vehemently and decisively deny the claim.
