UK
backs Israeli raids on Syria amid int’l outrage
British
Foreign Secretary William Hague says the Israeli regime’s violation
of Syrian airspace and bombing of the country is part of Tel Aviv’s
right to self defense amid widespread outrage over the move.

Israeli
regime’s fighter jets have led two airstrikes near the Syrian
capital of Damascus in the past three days, including on a research
center.
"All
countries have to look after their own national security, of course,
and are able to take actions to protect their own national security,"
Hague told Sky News.
Tel
Aviv has claimed that the strikes have targeted an arms convoy bound
for Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement along with the research center,
insisting it has been an act of self-defense.
However,
the United Nations and the Arab League have voiced their concerns
about the attacks.
UN
Secretary General Ban Ki Moon said they cannot verify “what has
occurred” but stressed the reports of the airstrikes are a source
of “grave concern”.
He
also implied that Tel Aviv should “act with a sense of
responsibility” to prevent an “escalation” in the already
“devastating” conflict.
The
Arab League has also called on the UN Security Council to “act
immediately to end Israeli attacks on Syria” saying the move is a
“dangerous violation of an Arab state’s sovereignty”.
Meanwhile,
Egyptian president described the Israeli raids as a violation of the
international law.
Foreign
Ministries of Iran and Lebanon also condemned the aggression with
Tehran saying the Israeli regime is trying to destabilize the region
