Yesterday's attack on Syria by Israel

Making sense of Israel's Act of War against Syria

ordered hell - delivered

I feel exhausted after yesterday's effort to try and keep up with events yesterday. What exhausts me is confronting people on social media that pretend to know better than anyone else - certainly better from me. One person even purported to know that yesterday's events were a "distraction from Fukushma".

God save me from such idiots!

It cetainly made me think of giving up on Facebook.  In fact yesterday was one day that I didn't get any information from Facebook - it was all from other sources.

The next day there are so many conflicting narratives that one could be driven mad.

For a start, the BBC is spouting the Israeli line verbatim that Iran attacked Israel and not that Israel attacked Syria! They have even dispensed with the normal "occupied" Golan Heights and are accepting that the Golan Heights belong to Israel rather than taken from Syria in 1967.

The BBC has finally decided to drop the pretense of being impartial. Doesn't even preface 'Golan Heights' with the word 'occupied', much less 'illegally occupied'. Who on earth wrote this headline: Mark Regev?

Here is what US mainstream television is saying:

And Israel....

Iran will take long time to recover after Israel hit ‘dozens’ of targets in Syria – IDF

Of course not a word coming out of Israel, and, most particularly, Bibi Netanyahu's mouth is to be taken seriously.

This is the first conflicting narrative - what came out of the Netanyahu - Putin talks yesterday immediately prior to the attacks.

Hal Turner was pretty certain that the talks failed and Putin all but snubbed Netanyahu.

Others are buying into Netanyahu's version of events.

Did the Russians stand down and "betray" its allies?  I have expressed this fear recently.  They certainly didn't play a very active role but Russian planes were reported in Lebanese airspace harassing and chasing way Israeli fighter jets.

constantly complains that it has no allies, even as the Kremlin doesn't lift a finger to help defend it's allies when they are illegally attacked and it has the capability. Again. And then Russia will wonder why no one lift's a finger when they come for us.
So where does the truth lie? I simply do not know.

Israel seems pretty clear that it has destroyed Iran's capabilities in Syria.

But others are clear that it was SYRIA and the Syrian Arab Army, and not Iran, that  were targeted and the action was not a success for Israel.

This is the day that forced to step down. 's is now Syria's.

Meanwhile, Israel seems to be setting itself up for its next action against Syria which will come WHEN?

Constant flow of Iranian missiles replenishes arms destroyed by Israel, including new Fateh 313

‘Iran has no reason to strike Golan’: Analysts dispute Israel’s ‘political’ claim of missile attack

What is absolutely certain is that the western lamestream media has been ignoring stories such as the major attack back at the end of April which took Iranian lives. There were unsubstantiated rumours that the Israelis dropped a tactical nuke near Hama.

Even if this is unsubstantiated it was huge.

The refusal to cover events and to use a proper timeline is used to distort the truth so that Iran, which MAY have retaliated was the “aggressor” when, in fact, IF the reports are true, was only responding to what was an act of supreme aggression against s sovereign state.

Here is some worthwhile coverage and analysis.

In the following article Moon of Alabama is suggesting that, like Theresa may before him, Bibi is seeking to stay in power by distracting against the corruption charges against him.

In the absense of countervailing evidence this is what I am going with

Mohammad Javad Jamali Nobandegani, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said Israel’s claim that Iran had provoked Israel by firing first was "a lie," adding that "Israel's history of carrying out unprovoked attacks in Syria has been well-documented."

"Iran does not have military base in Syria," Nobandegani added.

As does this less sophisticated analysis which unfortunately gets the date of Israel’s invasion of the Golan Heights wrong (it was 1967, not 1981)

Where does the truth lie?

To difficult to say amidst the fog of war but I can say where the truth is NOT. I do not expect to find any clues to the real situation from BBC, CNN, Fox News, the Guardian or anywhere else in the western media.

Thanks to Twitter and scoial media we are able to get reports from on-the-ground very quickly.

Some reports may turn out to be unsubstantiated but the bulk are and give the lie to western media reports – in fact even a simple timeline does that.
