BREAKING": VOSTOK 2018 manoeuvres have begun

In the Russian Far East launched the largest maneuvers in the history of Russia "Vostok-2018" have begun

The largest in contemporary history of Russia military exercises "Vostok-2018" was launched in the far East, reports the Department of information and mass communications of the Ministry of defense.

"Vostok-2018" will take place from 11 to 17 September, under the leadership of defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to the far East and adjacent waters of the Pacific ocean. The maneuvers will be the largest in the last 37 years, they employ almost 300 thousand soldiers, thousands of aircraft, helicopters and drones, to 36 thousand vehicles, up to 80 ships and support vessels. At one stage they will involve troops from China and Mongolia.

During the maneuvers will be worked out the questions of application of interspecies military groups in the interests of ensuring Russia's security. The main objective of the maneuvers — check of readiness of military authorities in planning and conducting the regrouping of troops over great distances, the organization of interaction between land groups and forces of the Navy, and getting commanders, commanders and staffs practice and improve their skills in the management of troops.

The maneuvers will take place in two stages: in the first in the far East deployed forces, and also increasing group of the Navy in the Northern and far Eastern sea areas. On the second commanders and staffs management will work cross-species groups of troops with the practical working out defensive and offensive actions.

The main army maneuvers to be held at the polygon Eastern military district "Tsugol", "Bamburovo", "Radigino", "Uspenovskiy" and "Bikin" and also in landfills and air defense force "Litovko", "novoselskoe", "Telemba" and "Anna Bay", in the waters of the Bering and Okhotsk seas, Avachinsky and Kronotsky bays. On the range "Tsugol" in the joint action will involve the Chinese military.

To participate in the maneuvers involved the military authorities, the troops of the Eastern and Central military district, forces of the Northern fleet, the compounds of the airborne troops, distant and military-transport aviation HQs.
