President instructed to provide support to the families of the dead
submariners.
Vladimir Putin, having taken the report of the head of the military Department, stressed that the ship on which the tragedy occurred, unusual, research, with a highly professional crew.
– According to your preliminary reports, seven of the fourteen dead – captains of rank 1, two Heroes of Russia, – said the President. – This is a big loss for the Navy, and indeed for the army. I offer my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims. We must do everything in order to provide them with assistance and support.
– I ask you to go to Severomorsk, in order to personally hear reports and to target Commission on the unconditional identification of the causes of this tragedy. Please return report to me personally – instructed the Supreme Commander.
Earlier, the defense Ministry reported that on 1 July this year in the Russian territorial waters on a research submersible designed for exploring the bottom of the space and the bottom of the oceans in the interests of the Navy of Russia, during the bathymetric measurements was on fire. 14 submariners died as a result of poisoning with burning products. Thanks to the selfless actions of the team the fire was extinguished. The event reasons are established.

The defense Minister said that in the course of routine work on the study of the seabed in the Russian territorial waters in the Barents sea on the research submersible of the Northern fleet was set on fire. As a result of poisoning with burning products killed 14 sailors-submariners.The Minister of defence of the Russian Federation General of the army Sergei Shoigu reported to the President about the fire at the research submersible of the Northern fleet in the Barents sea, which killed 14 sailors-submariners.
