Antarctic sea ice: This should alarm you

This is what data from the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) for today looks like from Antarctica.


It is, on the face of it, alarming to sea sea ice concentrations of less than 100 %.

However, it can be confusing because different sets of data can show different things,


 
This shows the sea ice extent.
