69+ Dialysis Patients Dead in 2 weeks

October, 2017
The
Government won’t talk about it, but Doctors have reported that
about 3 to 4 patients die daily in hospitals and health centers due
to lack of service or electricity. Many of the centers where patients
take their therapies do not have water and others have no power or
fuel for their generators. In other cases, many of the patients have
waited five to six days without taking their therapies for not having
transportation and in other cases because the roads are blocked or
collapsed, preventing patients from reaching their health centers.
At
the moment, 14 days after Hurricane MarĂa, 69 dialysis patients who
received initial treatment after the hurricane are Dead. Out of these
69 deaths 8 were reported yesterday in a period of only 48 hours in
several Treatment Centers in the West side of the island.
At
this date, the state government has not offered an accurate death
toll resulting directly from the hurricane.
