Mueller
Indicts 12 Russian Intel Officials For Hacking DNC, Hillary Campaign
13
July, 2018
The
DOJ announced charges against 12 Russian intelligence officers for
hacking offenses during the 2016 presidential election. The
indictments were announced by Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein as part of
Mueller's counsel probe into potential coordination between the Trump
campaign and Russia.
The
charges include conspiracy to commit an offense against the U.S.,
conspiracy to launder money, and aggravated identity theft - along
with releasing the stolen emails on the web.
Rosenstein said two separate Russian units of the GRU intelligence agency stole emails and information from Democrats and then disseminated it via online personas, DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0. He also said there’s no allegation in the indictment that any American was involved in the operation. -Bloomberg
The
Russians are accused of hacking into the computer networks of the
Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee and the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, and then
releasing stolen emails on the internet in the months before the
election. Of course, that probably means that someone at the DOJ
finally has access to the DNC Server - i.e., Exhibit
A -
which oddly enough, nobody from either the CIA or FBI had asked to
see at the time of the alleged hack.
“The
object of the conspiracy was to hack into the computers of U.S.
persons and entities involved in the 2016 U.S. presidential election,
steal documents from those computers, and stage releases of the
stolen documents to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential
election," the indictment reads.
That
said, the DOJ admits that no Americans were involved in these
efforts, and the hacking operation did not alter the outcome of
the election
The
White House issued a statement on Friday declaring that the
indictment is "consistent" with President Trump's claim
that there was no collusion between his campaign and the Kremlin.
“Today’s
charges include no allegations of knowing involvement by anyone on
the campaign and no allegations that the alleged hacking affected the
election result,” White House spokesperson Lindsay Walters said in
a statement. “This is consistent with what we have been saying all
along.”
The
accused individuals are also said to have used cryptocurrencies to
mask their identities as part of the scheme - employing Bitcoin to
buy servers, register internet domains and make payments to people
involved in the hacks, according to the indictment. They also "mined"
bitcoin to help bankroll the operation.
Also notable - "a
candidate for the U.S. Congress" who is not named contacted
Russian operatives who were posing as "Guccifer
2.0" to request information stolen from the DNC's email
server.
"The
conspirators responded using the Guccifer 2.0 persona and sent the
candidate stolen documents related to the candidate's opponent,"
the indictment reads.
Furthermore, the
indictment all but blames Trump's debate comments for
initiating the hack on Hillary Clinton's emails:
And
while the language and descriptions of "hacking" are
sufficiently vague, the indictment lays out a "spearphishing"
campaign of obtaining user credentials by tricking people into giving
them up, followed by more commonly understood "hacking"
techniques involving the infiltration of networks and the use of
malware. Meanwhile, the White House issued a statement through a
highlighting the fact that the indictment clearly states that no
Americans were involved with the alleged conspiracy (poking still
more holes in the government's already crumbling Russia collusion
narrative).
The
Russian agents allegedly created fictitious online personas during
their operation, including the Guccifer 2.0 persona, which was
previously believed to be a Romanian hacker, as using
cryptocurrencies to pay for various computer equipment, including in
the US.
Russian
GRU intelligence officials are also charged with using a third-party
(which is not named in the indictment but sounds a lot like
Wikileaks) to distribute the information (see reference below).

"The
internet allows foreign adversaries to attack Americans in new and
unexpected ways," Rosenstein said. "Free and fair elections
are hard-fought and contentious and there will always be adversaries
who work to exacerbate domestic differences and try to confuse,
divide and conquer us."
Before
Friday, 20 people and three companies had been charged in the Mueller
investigation. That includes four former Trump campaign and White
House aides and 13 Russians accused of participating in a hidden but
powerful social media campaign to sway American public opinion in the
2016 election.
But most interesting was
the admission at the end of the indictment, according to which there
is no indication that any American was a knowing participant in this
activity, and no indication that these efforts altered the vote count
in any way.
Rosenstein
said he had briefed President Donald Trump on the indictment, which
strategically comes just a day before Trump's meeting with Vladimir
Putin. It is therefore no surprise that the Russian ruble reversed
its earlier gains following the announcement.
While
the timing of the indictments is certainly curious, Rosenstein
insisted when asked by a reporter that the timing is purely a
coincidence and not the result of political considerations.

UPDATE: 12 RUSSIAN MILITARY MEMBERS INDICTED FOR INTERFERING IN U.S. ELECTION - "DC LEAKS" and "GUCCIFER 2.0" both Russian Intel Ops!!!!!
13
July, 2018
Deputy
Attorney General Rod Rosenstein hastily called a Press Conference for
11:45 AM today (Friday the 13th) for what he describes as a "Law
Enforcement Announcement."
The
last time Rosenstein did something like this was to announce
Indictments by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
This
story will be updated with further info; check back.
UPDATE 12:27 PM EDT –
Twelve
Russian Military persons have been INDICTED by name, for various
crimes involving computers, in an alleged effort to interfere with
the 2016 Presidential Election.
Two
very well known Internet entities have been named as being direct
Russian-created-and-controlled Intelligence Operations: "DC
LEAKS" and "GUCCIFER 2.0" are said to have been
created by and operated for Russian interference in the election!
These
efforts are alleged to have been undertaken by the Russian "GRU"
Intelligence Agency; (their version of our CIA) i.e.
state-sponsored election interference. e.g. a possible "act
of war."
These
Indictments come just two days before President Trump is to meet with
Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.
There
is NO allegation in these Indictments that any American knew these
entities were a Russia Intelligence Operation or willingly
participated in any of these efforts.
There
is NO allegation that any votes were changed as a result of these
operations, and NO election results were affected.
Video
of the complete Press Conference announcement appears
below. (Additional
Updates Below Video)
UPDATE 12:51 PM EDT --
The
Hal Turner Radio Show has obtained an actual copy of the
Indictment.
Among
many other charges, the Indictment alleges:
This
allegation has some GLARING problems, not the least of which is the
well known fact that neither
the Hillary Clinton Campaign nor the DNC turned over their computer
servers to the FBI for forensic examination!
How
can the US Justice Department claim that Hillary's campaign and the
DNC were "hacked by Russians" if the FBI never got to
examine the computer servers which were allegedly hacked?
No
server analysis = no evidence. So how is it that these charges
can be filed without evidence?
UPDATE 1:06 PM EDT --
The
Indictment also says DCLEAKS.com - a very widely disseminated source
during the election season, was created by and operated for the
benefit of, Russian Intelligence.
In
addition to the web site, the Russians also allegedly used FACEBOOK
and TWITTER!
