Boise Declares State of Emergency
5
January, 2017
Boise
mayor David Bieter declared the city to be in a state of emergency
which would last for seven days according to KTVB.
The
state of emergency status can last longer than the seven days, if
Bieter decides to extend it. By doing so, Boise is able to bypass the
typical methods such as bidding, in order to get the city the
supplies it needs.
Currently,
there is expected rainfall to hit the city within the next few days
which can cause severe flooding. This threat has caused the city to
begin contracting with operators of backhoes, dump trucks and other
essentials if needed.
In
addition to being in a state of emergency, schools have taken Friday
off as well. For a full list of closures, visit HERE
