Short update about the (very dangerous) Ukrainian situation

which I think you will find interesting: one with Michael Hudson and
one with an expert on Syria who prefers to remain anonymous.
Both should be very interesting. Please give me a few more days

Bottom
line: this
situation is very VERY tense.
Listening
to the junta propaganda, this appears to be preparatory attacks for
an imminent “reconquista”
of Donbass, but this is not necessarily so. My own evaluation
is that this probably not a prelude to a massive Ukronazi attack, but
this is definitely an attempt to provoke Russia and sabotage any
ongoing negotiations while giving the Empire a reason to demand an
extension of the sanctions. I say that because according to
many reports the Ukrainians are now extremely frightened of the
Novorussians: twice already, their counter-attacks were stopped
(Minsk 1 and Minsk 2) at the last moment, but nobody believes that a
Minsk 3 will happen. In other words, if the Ukronazis attack
they will be taking a huge risk. I might be wrong, but my sense
is that they will try to delay the (otherwise inevitable) moment when
they will have to launch their last attack.
Europe
and the OSCE are taking the typical spineless attitude towards these
events. The OSCE is reluctantly reporting that the Ukronazis
have brought back a lot of their heavy weapons and that civilians are
being killed every day. The EU is strenuously looking the other
way.
It
is pretty clear that Kerry, Nuland & Co got nothing out of Lavrov
or Putin and that “punitive escalation” is the US response to the
Russian refusal to budge.
Officially,
the Russians are sticking to their original stance. However, I
am also sensing a change in tone. There are now public
discussion about the need to gather the Federation Council to
re-authorize Putin to take military action in the Ukraine if needed.
The consensus seems to be that since the Ukronazis did sign M2A they
now have to abide by it and that no “M3A” or any other
negotiations will take place. Some very senior politicians have
indicated that if the Ukronazis attack again “all bets are off”
or, to use the favorite US expression “all options are on the
table”.
I
am increasingly getting a feeling that Russia will now oppose any
other kid of “efforts” or negotiations. Ukrainian
suggestions that this or that new idea has to be discussed are
summarily dismissed in Moscow. The
Russians seem to have concluded that they have the Ukrainians, the EU
and the USA exactly where they want them to be and that the best
thing to do now is to wait.
In
other words, neither the Ukronazi junta nor their US patrons are
going to get anything out of Russia at this point. I believe
that they understand that. Worse (for them), time is running
out and the Ukrainian economy has essentially collapsed and for all
practical purpose in a state of default (the Rada’s vote to allow
Iats to chose which creditors to pay – or not – is, essentially,
an admission of bankruptcy).
Barring
a miracle of some kind, the Ukronazis will simply have to attack as a
war or, better (from their point of view) a Russian “invasion”
(which would be a liberation, of course) is now the only
and last option left to
cover up the total collapse not only of the US Ukrainian policy but
also of the entire “Independent Ukraine” project.
Of
course, a major false flag is also a very real option.
The
next couple of weeks will be very, very dangerous.

Around 50 vessels from 17 countries, involving overall 5,600 troops, will be taking part in US-led exercise BALTOPS in the Baltic Sea starting June 5. In 15 days, NATO allies will show their eagerness and ability to protect the region.
Featuring anti-submarine warfare, air defense, interception of suspect vessels and amphibious landings, the annual BALTOPS will run through June 20.
This
year’s excursive will see 49 ships, 61 aircraft, a submarine and an
amphibious landing force of 700 troops participating.
The total number of servicemen involved in BALTOPS or Baltic Operations will reach 5,600 people, NATO’s website said.
NATO member states Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Turkey, UK and the US are sending their naval forces to take part in the dill.
They’ll be joined by three NATO partners – Finland and Sweden, which both have access to the Baltic Sea, and also Georgia.

The exercises are to kick off in the Polish port of Gdynia then move out to the Baltic Sea and conclude in the German port of Kiel, Radio Poland reported.
Being a US-led exercise, BALTOPS-2015 will be headed by Navy Vice Adm. James Foggo III, the commander of Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) and US 6th Fleet, based in Naples, Italy.
“This exercise represents an important opportunity for our forces, as allies and partners, to enhance our ability to work together and strengthen capabilities required to maintain regional security," Foggo was cited by NATO’s website as saying.
“This exercise will be conducted in a truly joint environment, and I look forward to working with and learning from so many different nations and services,” he added.
BALTOPS has been held annually since 1971, with NATO’s website stressing that the current 43rd edition of the drill “is not held in response to any specific threat.”
Meanwhile, the war games will be taking place just miles off the Russian coastal exclave of Kaliningrad, a gulf area sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania.
Despite failing to provide any proof, the West blames Russia for masterminding the Ukrainian unrest and supporting the rebels in country’s eastern Donetsk and Lugansk Regions.
This May, the Baltics became the venue of another major NATO exercise, with 20 vessels from nine member states.

The
Ukrainian parliament has adopted amendments to state law allowing
“admission of the armed forces of other states on the territory of
Ukraine.” The possible hosting of foreign weapons of mass
destruction is also mentioned in the documents.
Amendments
to Ukrainian law were adopted on Thursday by the Verkhovna Rada,
receiving a majority of 240 votes (the required minimum being 226).
The bill was submitted to the parliament in May by PM Arseny
Yatsenyuk. It focuses on the provision of “international
peacekeeping and security” assistance
to Ukraine at its request.
Peacekeeping missions are to be deployed “on the basis of decision of the UN and/or the EU,” the bill published on the parliament’s official website says.

Previously, the presence of any international military forces on the territory of Ukraine not specifically sanctioned by state law was only possible by adopting a special law initiated by the president. Implementation of the new amendments “will create necessary conditions for deployment on the territory of Ukraine international peacekeeping and security” missions without the need for additional legal authorization, the explanatory note to the draft bill said.
The presence of such armed forces in Ukraine “should ensure an early normalization of situation” in Donbass, the note added, saying that they would help “restore law and order and life, constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens” in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
In a comparative table, published among the accompanying documents to the bill, “potential carriers of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction are permitted under international agreement with Ukraine for short-term accommodation,” with Kiev providing proper control during the period that such forces were stationed there.

separate amendment banned the presence of “armed
forces of states that unleash military aggression against
Ukraine.” This
appears to be a clear reference to the Rada’s January statement
calling Russia an “aggressor” –
although the body has been reluctant to approve a legally binding law
saying exactly that.

With violence in south-eastern Ukraine on the rise again, it is “very important to avoid any actions or steps that provoke escalation of tension,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday, as quoted by RIA Novosti. the Minsk-2 truce nearly collapsed amid heavy weapons fire and tank
attacks in a suburb of Donetsk.====
Summary
for our preschool readers:
The
fighting in Mar’inka wasn’t a general offensive by either side,
but rather a series of small
attacks/counter-attacks
amid heavy artillery fire. In the end, both sides are pretty much
where they started, losses seem comparable. Donetsk was randomly
shelled by UAF, as per usual. Overall, exact same pattern of
escalating tug-of-war that we saw in Donetsk airport last all.
The
reports yesterday were extremely confusing: sources on both sides
reported attacking and defending, winning and losing – all at the
same time.
Literally,
there were multiple sources on both sides claiming anything from
“we’ve been kicked out of Mar’inka with serious losses” to
“We took Mar’inka, the enemy suffered huge losses”.
Mass
media were no help as usual, Western MSM mindlessly parroting the UAF
spokesman’s boasting, and Russians doing the same for the DPR.
Videos
from the fighting just showed somebody shooting at something,
somewhere.
Thankfully,
OSCE cleared the fog of war a bit with their spot report, even if it
was done in their trademark style of “we just talk about DPR
actions because we it just so happened we were only watching them; we
will mention in the middle of the sentence in the third paragraph, in
passing, that UAF hit Donetsk with a hundred heavy-artillery rounds
at 4:30am (which is the exact point the fighting broke out – what a
coincidence)”.
This
was followed by a “latest report” that had a “ceasefire
violations table” attached, which indicates OSCE recorded ~150
artillery and MLRS rounds fired by the UAF, ~230 fired by the DPR,
and ~200 where they were not sure. They have also spotted something
like 12 DPR tanks and 8 UAF tanks or SPHs.
Combining
this report with messages from various people on the ground (in
chronological order), we can be reasonably sure of what happened. In
short, sources on both sides did not agree who was winning or losing
because, during the day, combat rocked back and forth.
The
fighting started in the early morning.
4:30
am is the point when OSCE detected the start of UAF shelling of
Donetsk and start of DPR artillery strikes on UAF positions, but it
is likely that smaller clashes in Mar’inka – using small-arms,
grenade launchers, and light mortars – started some time prior (in
fact, they never really stopped, at least in the previous few days).
Stages:
1.
(Possible UAF attack) UAF infantry may have assaulted the DPR
positions first, in the early morning; several separate DPR sources
claim this, but there is no rock-solid evidence. Both sides certainly
shelled each other.
2.
(DPR counter-offensive) Either way, it appears DPR forces in Mar’inka
quickly recovered, called in infantry and armor reinforcements, and
counterattacked (according to DPR sources, they initially tried to
close in with the enemy to prevent UAF artillery from firing – for
fear of hitting their own forces – but when the UAF started
retreating, this turned into “let’s see how much ground we can
take”).
3.
(DPR hold most of Mar’inka) The DPR advance got additional
reinforcements and went well. By midday (very rough estimate), UAF
forces were pushed to the western edge of Mar’inka. DPR
reinforcements from Donetsk actually started attacking the next town
of Kurahovo, trying to silence the artillery that has been shelling
them and Donetsk from there.
This
was the high-water mark of DPR “probing attack” and the reason
the panicked messages from Kiev side / triumphant reports from DPR.
4.
(UAF counter-offensive) However, just like at the “tug-of-war”
we’ve seen in the Donetsk airport in the fall, the close-combat
victories of the rebels in one location were meaningless without a
strategic plan and silencing UAF artillery in surrounding positions.
UAF
gunners were ready and zeroed in on the forward UAF positions the
rebels took, and UAF soon responded with several large
counterattacks, also including plenty of armor. When the dust
settled, the artillery-battered rebels were more or less pushed back
to where they started.
This
is the reason for “we’ve been pushed back by Ukie attack”
reports from the rebels and Kiev messages saying they have
effortlessly defeated the “Russo-terroristic armies” (I’m not
kidding, this is the official term they use nowadays).
5.
(UAF hold most of Mar’inka) At this point (around 5 pm), both sides
have taken considerable losses (DPR acknowledged 15 KIA and 84 WIA,
Kiev acknowledged 4 KIA and 42 WIA – real losses are likely 50%
higher for DPR and 200%+ higher for Kiev, as usual), and agreed to
stop attacking each other.
What
conclusions can we make?:
A)
Minsk-2 truce is very shaky, both sides seem increasingly liberal
with using heavy weapons and conducting offensives and
counter-offensives.
B)
For now, we can not conclusively blame either side for this flare-up.
The whole thing appears to be a case of escalating tit-for-tat
exchanges, with both sides being quick to up the ante.
C)
UAF are staying true to their trademark “when in doubt, drop single
shells all around Donetsk for no military reason” terror shelling
habit (see list of hits here ). At the same time, DPR have also hit
both civilian houses and checkpoints yesterday, but at least their
fire is always aimed to a zipcode with military targets in it. OSCE
confirms both of these things, no one cares.
D)
Absent some progress in implementation of Minsk-2 conditions, this
scenario will likely repeat and soon lead to renewed hostilities.
Chief
problem, as I see it, is that the sides were forced to sign the truce
by Russia and EU virtually in gunpoint. In fact, the rebels have no
real desire to surrender to Kiev, and Kiev usurpers have no real
desire to stop the war – it is the only thing distracting the
population from the myriad failures of the new government in all
other matters . As a result, rebels refuse to disarm or let Kiev
control the Russian border, Kiev refuses to lift the
food/medicine/economic blockade, or release political prisoners. No
progress has been made in implementation of Minsk-2 agreements for
months, and absent some major pressure from both West and Russia,
none will be.

FIFA’s territorial waters as we speak. All because the US adopted a
new way to attack all other countries, including those landlocked,
like Switzerland. A new strategy calledCooperative
Strategy for 21st Century Seapower: Forward, Engaged, Ready (CS21R),
not to be confused with the Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century
Seapower 2008. This time it’s not just a theory, the status
normally assigned to these kind of documents. This time it’s an
operational plan. To dominate. To project absolute power. Onto every
country on earth. “All Domain Access.” It’s not enough to just
conquer FIFA and entrap those rich fat Swiss Vabbits.
To
the four main functions of the US Navy: eat, sleep, shit, and SM
troll, a fifth function is added: all domain access. This function
assures appropriate freedom of four main functions to act in any
domain—the sea, air, land, space, and cyber-space, as well as in
the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, and your children’s lunchbox.
Farfetched?
Imagine the US decides via some NGO to vaccinate every child in your
village and parents object, mostly because vaccinations would render
their children infertile. The US will use CS21R and mutual legal
assistance treaties they have with the governments to enter your
village and to forcefully vaccinate your children. The US does it in
Mexico, in African countries, and in Ukraine. No reason it can’t do
the same in Split, Croatia.
The
US military becomes a law enforcement operator under the US Coast
Guard cover “with dozens of mutual legal assistance treaties
negotiated across the world enabling easier Coast Guard access to
littorals where other maritime forces may have operational
restrictions.” After all, the transitional crime is worth $750
billion annually. It’s a crime not to benefit from this.
The
same with the US banks and offices. Still think that an office in New
York is a good idea? This is so last Friday! FIFA had an office in
NY, and now it’s called FAFA. A for America, where no one plays
European football. Just one more question, did you ever use an US
bank? That’s what I am talking about.
The
new Military Doctrine of the USA is the new trade law, new contract
law, new, insurance law, and new tort law. It’s even the new
environmental protection law. If the US decides that your country
endangers snail habitats, or it won a sports championship, or a film
festival, or a book prize, or a spelling bee, the US might use the US
Coast Guard legal treaties to gain an easy access to your country’s
shores. Just like they do in the Balkans.

NATO Navy.
The good news though, it’s going to be easy to take it back from
NATO and a horde of Nazis. It was never possible to take it from
Odessites.

out he was born in Ukraine and identifies as a Ukrainian in the US
driven coup d’état sense of this word. More research needs to be
done on this dude, but on the face of it, it looks like he is selling
Russia’s scientific research secrets to NATO.
Even
more troubling, he teaches students at Moscow University.

Institute for
Theoretical Physics, named after the Jr.’s famous Soviet Physicist
father, is located in Kiev, Ukraine.

looks to me that Bogolyubov Jr. lives and works in Moscow, so he can
collect and sell Russia’s defense secrets to NATO.
I
think the trend of some scientists sitting in two chairs, like
Nikolay Bogolyubov Jr., living in Moscow and gathering information
there and selling this information to NATO has to top.
You
don’t see NATO scientists working with the Russian Defense
ministry.
The
US scientists operate under total surveillance of the NSA, and the
total control of the FBI, and by the corporate security services.
Universities in the US are large corporations with their own
security. The US is very well known to jail and put to death
scientists for canoodling with the “enemies.” That’s why all
the American scientists are very loyal to Washington. This loyalty is
based on pure fear, you can’t buy this kind of loyalty with money.
Russia
must take a cold hard look at the people who stand with one foot in
the national science and defense secrets, while keeping the other
foot in NATO’s camp. While they are spread out like this, it’s a
good time to hit them right in between their legs.

KIEV,
June 3. /TASS/. Ukraine’s National Bank has published preliminary
foreign trade statistics for January-April 2015 to draw extremely
pessimistic comments from Viktor Medvedchyuk, the leader of the
non-governmental organization Ukrainian Choice.
The
slump in export is really stunning, Medvedchyuk says in an article
published on the organization’s website. In just four months the
export was down by 34.5% (against January-April 2014) to 3.2 billion
dollars.
“It
is noteworthy that Ukraine’s export to the EU countries has
plummeted by more than a third – 34.4% This can testify only to the
utter failure of the policy of euro-integration. Repeated warnings by
impartial politicians and experts have come true: nobody is eager to
welcome Ukraine with its goods,” he says.
The
dramatic fall in export to Russia – by a factor of 2.5 in contrast
to January-April 2014 – was an inevitable consequence of the
Ukrainian authorities’ policies.

structure of Ukrainian export has changed accordingly: the share of
engineering products was down by half, of mineral products (including
ore) by a factor of 2.7, of metal products, by 40%, and of foods, by

Ukrainian forces fired once from multiple rocket launcher systems,
eight times with artillery, eight times from tanks, 36 times with
mortars, once from anti-aircraft guns, and four times with grenade
launchers and small arms. They fired at Donetsk (Kievsky, Kirovsky,
and Petrovsky districts, Tochmash plant, Oktyabrsky settlement,
Donetsk airport, Abakumov, Skochinsky, Zasydko coal mines), Gorlovka,
Dokuchaevsk (Yasnoye settlement), Kurganka, Veseloye, Shirokino,
