Disinformation and censorship on the Las Vegas shooting

Events are coming through thick and fast and there is so much information and counter-information that my head is reeling.

I have given up trying to work out for myself exactly what is happening.

However, the following really makes one scratch one’s head.

It seems that in the attempt to destroy the real story that there was more than one shooter someone is trying to portray CNN International as a fake news site.

Unless someone has replicated the site with all the normal links to stories this is impossible. 

The latest in fakery on the Las Vegas shooting?

I was alerted to the following article on Facebook.

When I tried opening the link this is what I got.

The comments on Facebook referred to a CNN link which it did not take me long to find.

However attempts to share this on Facebook met with a refusal.

(CNN) Breaking News – Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Compos has been arrested accused of being an accomplice and second shooter in the Las Vegas massacre that claimed the lives of 59 people and injured more than 500.

Jesus Campos had originally been praised for his apparent heroics on October 1st, as he supposedly rushed to Paddock’s suite, was shot in the upper thigh through the door, and continued to help get people to safety despite his wounds. However, FBI officials involved in the investigation now believe he was an accomplice of Paddock’s, and was involved in the initial shooting as a second gunman from the other broken window in Paddock’s 32nd-floor room.

According to a senior FBI official, authorities became suspicions by the extreme amount of gunpowder residue found on Campos’ hands and inconsistencies in his timeline of events. “We believe he killed Paddock, shot holes through the door and his own arm to produce physical evidence for his cover story, then went and lay next to the elevator,” the FBI official told CNN.

An anonymous source working on the investigation told CNN that authorities are now in possession of security footage showing Campos smuggling the firearms used in the massacre in through a Mandalay Bay loading dock in the days leading up to the event.

With the arrest of Compos Police now hope to get a greater understanding of the motivations behind the attack

Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos being arrested for being a second shooter in the Las Vegas mass shooting is fake news. there is no truth to a report that Campos was arrested or had any connection to the horrific tragedy that fell upon music goers in Las Vegas. A previous report that Campos was an “accomplice” to Las Vegas Strip mass shooter Stephen Paddock were false and so is the report that Campos was arrested.

Following the worst mass shooting in the United States, Paddock was named as the lone gunman by law enforcement. However, that did not stop some conspiracy theorists in suggesting that there was another person involved in the shooting.

Jesus Campos was not arrested, and neither was “Jesus Compos” as he is mistakenly refered to in a fake article titled “Police Arrest Mandalay Security Guard Jesus Compos As Second Shooter In Las Vegas Massacre” which was posted by a site named cnn-internationaledition.com and which opened:

However, there is no truth to the above story, according to Hoax Alert. Currently, the real CNN reportedthat Campos was actually shot in the leg by Paddock but was able to deliver a warning to hotel security. Contrary to the above story, there has been no report linking Campos to the shooting. Rather he has been labeled a hero for his actions..

Here are some examples of people sharing the fake news on social media.

Hoax Alert noted that the fake CNN site is designed to fool readers in order to help the fake news spread on social media. Fake news website Freedom Daily also shared the false claim.

A previous story was debunked by Snopes. The reasons Snopes gave included the lack of evidence and citations by the site’s owner Chuck C. Johnson who has been named as an Internet troll. Most importantly, the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms contacted GotNews to notify them the story was inaccurate.

According to this CNN International is supposed to be a FAKE WEB SITE and yet yet when I follow the link this is what I get.

Looks pretty legit to me! It may not be the real fake news site, CNN (‘Clinton News Network’) but the marginally more credible international CNN site.

It also refers to Snopes as the final arbitor in whether a story is fake or not!!

WHAT THE FUCK?!
