Dahr Jamail on rapid climate change

From Kevin Hester:

Dahr Jamal is one of the few journalists covering our extinction event in any detail in Truthout. Great to hear him bring up the issue of methane which is surprisingly being neglected by everyone including the IPCC with the exception of the team at the Arctic Methane Emergency Group.

One of the worst details for me is Dahr's information that the Antarctic is now melting as fast as the Arctic.

Dahr confirms what Dr Natalia Shakhova and Guy McPherson have been warning about a spontaneous release of gigatons of methane from the Arctic and for the first time I hear of the possibility of a 7C temp increase, for everyone who has read my note on 6c is where we are heading, that represents a total freak out

Without going into to much detail the information in this great presentation is all bad, don't shoot the messenger.

Dahr Jamail: "Are We Off the Climate Precipice?"

Dahr Jamail, independent, award winning journalist

Between 150 and 200 species are going extinct every single day. We are likely to begin seeing periods of ice-free Arctic by as soon as this coming summer, or the summer of 2016 at the latest. The 14 hottest years on record have all occurred in the last 16 years. August, September, and October of 2014 were each the hottest months ever recorded, respectively, and 2014 is already tied with the hottest year ever recorded. All this and we are only .85C above pre-industrial temperatures. Have we already gone off the climate precipice? What can we expect in the climate disrupted future, and what should we do now?
