Qantas:No flight without vaccine

If I had suggested this "conspiracy theory" a few months ago I might have been deplatformed.

Silence from the Australian media on this as far as I can see.

Qantas CEO: Must Have COVID-19 Vaccine to Fly Internationally, It's a 'Necessity'

In an interview with Australia's A Current Affair, the CEO of Qantas airlines said his company is looking at changing its rules to require that people flying internationally must be vaccinated against COVID-19. "We think that's a necessity," he stressed.

During the Nov. 23 interview, host Tracy Grimshaw asked CEO Alan Joyce, “When there is a vaccine, are you going to require all of your passengers to being vaccinated before they get on a plane?”

Joyce said, “Yes, we are looking at changing our terms and conditions to say, for international travelers, that we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft. Whether you need that domestically, we’ll have to see what happens with COVID-19."

"But certainly for international visitors coming out or people leaving the country, we think that’s a necessity," said Joyce.

A Current Affair also reported that Joyce believes this requirement will eventually be required worldwide.

No shot, no service.

Australian airline Qantas will require travelers on international flights to be jabbed with a coronavirus vaccine once an inoculation is ready, CEO Alan Joyce said.

“Whether you need that domestically, we’ll have to see what happens with COVID-19 in the market, but certainly for international visitors coming out and people leaving the country, we think that’s a necessity,” Joyce said in a Monday interview with the Australian news program “A Current Affair.”

Australia’s largest airline is planning to enshrine the mandate in its terms and conditions, which would be amended to say that international travelers must be vaccinated before they can board a Qantas plane, Joyce said.

Other airlines are likely to impose similar requirements once health regulators around the world approve a vaccine, according to Joyce. He said the policies could be enforced by providing travelers with a digital “vaccination passport” that shows what vaccine they’ve received and whether it’s “acceptable to the country you’re traveling to.”

“I’m talking to my colleagues in other airlines around the globe and I think it’s going to be a common theme across the board,” Joyce said in the interview. “… There’s a lot of logistics, a lot of technology that’ll be needed to put in place to make this happen, but the airlines and the governments are working on this as we speak.”

Joyce revealed the plans as drugmakers made significant progress toward developing a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine, which is considered key to helping airlines and other beaten-down industries recover from the pandemic.

Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca have all said their experimental shots are highly effective, and Pfizer’s candidate could be distributed in the US by the end of December if regulators clear it for emergency use
