Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Syrian SU-22 didn't target opposition fighters in Raqqah

Russia Retaliates for US Downing Syrian War Plane

Russia has retaliated in its own way for the downing of the Syrian Bomber SU-22 over Raqqa by suspending air cooperation with the US over the skies of Syria. Russia says now all Coalition forces will be tracked and targeted by s-300 and S-400 air defense shield. Could it be that the US retaliated against Syria for the deaths of three American fighting with ISIS?

Even such a hardcore anti-government media outlet as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) does not support the twisted logic that the US-led coalition uses to justify its agression against the Syrian government.
SOHR reported:

The fate of the pilot of regime’s warplane is still unknown, where its warplane was dropped in the southern countryside of Al-Raqqah, the warplane was shot down over Al-Resafa area of which the regime forces have reached to its frontiers today, and sources suggested to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that warplanes of the International Coalition targeted it during its flight in close proximity to the airspace of the International Coalition’s warplanes, which caused its debris to fall over Resafa city amid an unknown fate of its pilot, the sources confirmed that the warplane did not target the Syria Democratic Forces in their controlled areas located at the contact line with regime forces’ controlled areas in the western countryside of Al-Tabaqa to the road of Al-Raqqah – Resafa.”

'All US planes are targets' Russia in final warning after plane shot down over Syria

THE US has been warned that its warplanes are now targets after a Syrian fighter jet was shot down.

19 Jube, 2017

Russia says it will treat planes belonging to the US as targets if they stray west of the river Euphrates.

Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, called the incident on Sunday a "dangerous escalation".

He told the Kremlin-owned TASS news agency it was an “act of aggression” and showed US "support for terrorists".

And he warned that new sanctions on Russia, agreed by the Senate in Washington DC last week, would make Moscow retaliate.

His comments follow the US shooting down a Syrian government army jet yesterday near Raqqa, the city ISIS has claimed as its capital.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has also weighed in, warning Washington it must respect the territorial sovereignty of Syria.

But whilst the Syrian government says its plane was bombing ISIS, the US says it was attacking anti-ISIS rebels.

In a statement, the American-led coalition fighting ISIS in Syria said the incident occurred in Ja'Din.

The town had recently been retaken from ISIS by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an umbrella group of rebel fighters.

But the group was bombed at 2.30pm UK time, leading to the US contacting Russia via a de-escalation hotline, the statement said.

Nonetheless, the Syrian government jet attacked SDF fighters again two hours later, forcing a US plane to shoot it down, Washington said.

"In accordance with rules of engagement and in collective self-defence of coalition partnered forces, [it] was immediately shot down," the statement said.

"The coalition does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend coalition or partner forces from any threat.

"The demonstrated hostile intent and actions of pro-regime forces toward coalition and partner forces conducting legitimate counter-ISIS operations will not be tolerated."

Mr Ryabkov is due to meet Thomas Shannon, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, in St Petersburg, Russia, on June 23 to discuss bilateral affairs.
Vladimir Putin's government is allied with the Syrian regime, led by the murderous dictator Bashar al-Assad, and has sent Russian forces to its aid.
