Oranga Tamariki minister and NZ First MP Tracey Martin met with Australia's Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton during a Five-Eyes partners meeting in Washington DC.
Dutton had no symptoms of the coronavirus at the time but woke up with a temperature and sore throat yesterday.
Dutton has since revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus and is now in hospital.
A spokesperson said Martin did not shake Dutton's hand while she was overseas.
A statement today said the Minister is feeling fine and has been told she does not need to be tested for coronavirus although she is self-isolating as a precaution.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is denying reports that he’s tested positive for the coronavirus.
FOX News broke the news this morning that its sources said he had tested positive for the disease. It also noted that the president’s son, Eduardo, had not directly answered a question from its reporter who sought to confirm the sources’ reports.
This afternoon, Bolsonaro’s Facebook account posted that his test results came back negative for the coronavirus. It also slammed the “fake news” media for misreporting his condition. But since then, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez—who had met with Bolsonaro and his delegation—has now tested positive.
Bolsonaro met last weekend with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. The two leaders were seen dining side by side.
President Trump was asked about his interactions with Bolsonaro. He was further asked if he will now be tested for the coronavirus. The president responded, “most likely, yeah.”
Host Rick Wiles and the TruNews team of Doc Burkhart and Edward Szall will discuss this and many other coronavirus headlines during tonight’s God-cast at TruNews.com.
