China's
military has been conducting naval drills in its waters off the
northern parts of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Strait, adjacent to
the Korean Peninsula, according to China's defense ministry on
Saturday.
During
the eight-day drills that began on Friday, China's maritime
authorities banned all civilian vessels from sailing in the waters,
the ministry said in a notice posted on its website.
The
notice said China's People's Liberation Army has been carrying out
"military missions" in the affected waters, without
providing details.
Earlier
this month, the Chinese military conducted similar, eight-day drills
in the water.
