I feel a little bit sorry for those that follow the party line.
Are they to believe what he said today.. or yesterday... or the day before?
Fauci Flips AGAIN And Says
People Should Double Mask
Having previously poured cold water on Americans’ holiday plans, President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser did so again on Wednesday, saying any watch parties should be limited to immediate household members.
“Enjoy the game, watch it on television, but do it with the immediate members of your family, the people in your household. As much fun as it is to get together in a big Super Bowl party, now is not the time to do that,” Fauci told NBC’s Savannah Guthrie.
“You don’t want parties with people that you haven’t had much contact with,” he added. “You just don’t know if they’re infected, so, as difficult as that is, at least this time around, just lay low and cool it.”
Fauci acknowledged that the Super Bowl “is a big deal” in the US, but said “every time we do have something like this, there always is a spike, be it a holiday, Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving.”
Only 22,000 people will be allowed at the actual NFL championship game on Sunday – with mandatory masks and social distancing – in Tampa, Florida. Tailgating parties at the stadium have been banned.
Despite the rollout of two coronavirus vaccines, the Biden administration has not given any timeline for relaxing the lockdowns, and has in fact imposed a mask mandate on all federal property. Last month, Fauci famously flip-flopped about the reports two masks protect people better than one, first calling it “common sense” only to later say “there’s no data that indicates that that is going to make a difference.”
In one of his many media appearances, Fauci also admitted to manipulating the numbers of vaccinations needed to achieve herd immunity, but said it was for the common good, just like his initial opposition to face masks – which needed to be hoarded for medical workers due to “paucity,” as he later told Congress.
Fauci has led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 and became a prominent member of the government’s coronavirus task force in 2020 – but avoided any criticism for its handling of the virus himself. Thanks in part to his constant presence in the media, he has accumulated a cult-like following among the American public.

Just a few days earlier..
“There are many people who feel, 'You know, if you really want to have an extra little bit of protection, maybe I should put two masks on.' There's nothing wrong with that, but there's no data that indicates that that is going to make a difference. And that's the reason why the CDC has not changed the recommendations.”
Fauci made his comments in a livestreamed conversation late last week with leaders of major US teachers unions. The video surfaced on social media on Sunday. The media darling's statement appeared to reverse comments he made just a few days earlier, when he said in an NBC News interview that “it just makes common sense” that double-masking is more effective than wearing a single mask. By just a day later, the experts seemed to be in a game of one-upmanship, with NBC quoting another doctor saying three or even four masks would provide greater filtration, though such a strategy could backfire because increased discomfort could force the wearer to remove the fortress of face coverings.
Multi-masking has become increasingly prevalent in recent weeks as politicians and other mask advocates have put on additional layers to seek added protection or send a safety-prowess message. The New York Times even declared last week that “Two masks are the new masks” and praised the likes of Pete Buttigieg and his husband for double-masking at President Joe Biden's January 20 inauguration.
Fauci's turnabout perhaps throws a little cold water on the fashion trend, as mainstream media outlets treat the 80-year-old doctor almost like a religious figure when it comes to his Covid-19 directives. But it was just the latest in a long line of flip-flops on pandemic guidelines.
In December, for example, Fauci admitted to lying about herd-immunity targets to manipulate public opinion about Covid-19 vaccines. He said last March that there was no need for the general public to wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus, then called in October for a national mask mandate. So on the subject of masks alone, he's gone from zero to one to two to one.
It's not altogether clear which of those recommendations was on target. Dr. Michael Osterholm, an infectious-disease expert who served on Biden's Covid-19 advisory board, said Sunday in an NBC interview that double-masking could cause more infections because more air would likely be forced to escape through gaps around the sides of the masks because it would be harder to pass through the filters.
“Think about your swim goggles,” Osterholm said. “When was the last time anybody leaked at the lenses? They leak at the fit.” It doesn't help, he added, that as many as one-fourth of people wear masks under their noses. “That's like fixing three of the five screen doors in your submarine. What's going on there? We've got to get people to start using these right.”

Could wearing two face masks at once during the pandemic provide more protection than just wearing one? According to White House advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, “it likely does,” he told NBC News’ TODAY on Monday.
As Fauci explained, masks are physical coverings that prevent respiratory droplets from spreading to other people and provide a degree of protection to the wearer.
“So if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective,” Fauci told TODAY. “That’s the reason why you see people either double masking or doing a version of an N95.”
As Alberta’s COVID-19 case numbers continue to rise, the province’s chief medical officer of health is weighing in on federal recommendations that a two-layer face mask isn’t adequate protection anymore.
On Tuesday, Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam made a new recommendation that people should be wearing triple-layer non-medical masks now, with one of those layers being a filter-like fabric.
Speaking to media on Wednesday, Dr. Deena Hinshaw echoed that three-layer masks “do increase the protection,” but stressed there is no one solution to limiting coronavirus transmission.
“It’s not zero protection and full protection,” she said.
“Additional layers add additional protection and, again, the current evidence would indicate that those three layers are important. However, I would encourage people if they haven’t yet had time to get a three-layer mask to continue wearing the two-layer.”
