US is deploying special troops to Syria

Syria: US Special Forces & Rebel Proxies Designed to Outflank Putin and Assad in Fight Against ISIS

Eric Draitser of http://StopImperialism.org provides his commentary (April 2, 2016) on the news that the US is deploying large numbers of Special Forces to Syria, along with a new program to train and equip anti-Assad rebels.

Draitser explains that the US intends to fill the void created by the destruciton of much of the Isalmic State's capabilities, both by the combined Russian-Syrian assaults, and by US airstrikes.

He notes that the moves by Washington and strategic in nature, and that they're part of the broader proxy war with Russia.
