Breaking: Syrian Arab Army Begins Long-Awaited Offensive in Northern Homs

15 October, 2015

Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s 3rd and 11th Divisions began their large-scale offensive inside the Al-Rastan Plains of the Homs Governorate after two weeks of mobilizing their forces and shelling the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

According to a military source inside the provincial capital of the Homs Governorate, the Russian Air Force led the way in the Al-Rastan Plains, striking the imperative cities of Talbiseh, Al-Rastan, and Umm Sharshouh with their MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunships that paved the way for the Syrian Armed Forces’ to begin this long awaited offensive.

The two primary objectives of this northern Homs offensive are the following: 1) reopen the strategic highway that leads from the provincial capital of the Homs Governorate to the provincial capital of the Hama Governorate 2) Further isolate the Islamist rebels inside the last district they control inside the provincial capital (Al-Wa’er District).

The Syrian Armed Forces have launched this offensive from three towns in northern Homs: Kafr Naan, Tasneen, and Jaboureen.

Approximately 2,000-3,000 soldiers are participating in this large-scale offensive inside the Al-Rastan Plains; this is the largest offensive the Syrian Arab Army has launched since the Qalamoun Mountains offensive in late 2013.

The cities of Al-Rastan and Talbiseh will be the most difficult challenges for the Syrian Armed Forces during this offensive, as both cities are heavily entrenched with Islamist rebel fighters that have enough provisions to hold-out for a long duration.

Syrian Army Advances in East Damascus: Reema Water Company Facility Captured

15 October, 2015

On Wednesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – launched a powerful assault inside the East Ghouta (collection of farms in Damascus) region of the Rif Dimashq Governorate, where they specifically targeted the rebel strongholds of Douma, Harasta, Jobar, Zibdeen, and Jisreen.

The Syrian Armed Forces achieved significant success inside the city of Harasta on Wednesday, as they took complete control of the Reema Water Company facility after intense firefights with the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) near the contested Harasta Industrial Area in northeast Damascus.

In addition to their success inside Harasta, the Syrian Armed Forces carried out a powerful assault on Jaysh Al-Islam’s positions inside the dilapidated city of Jobar, killing 18 enemy combatants and destroying three machine gun nests near the Teacher’s Tower; this city has been the site of some of the most intense battles taking place in the East Ghouta recently.

Meanwhile, inside the rebel stronghold of Douma, the Syrian Armed Forces targeted a Jaysh Al-Islam hideout at the Aliyah Farms, resulting in the eventual destruction of the Islamist site and the death of a dozen enemy combatants before noon on Wednesday.

Firefights are still ongoing between the Syrian Armed Forces and Jaysh Al-Islam at the Aliyah Farms in northern Douma; however, fighting has now spread to the Al-Wafadeen Refugee Camp, where the Islamist rebels are currently attempting to break-into, despite a number of failed attempts

Kadyrov: Most Chechen militants who joined ISIS have been destroyed in Syria

Кадыров: большинство выходцев из Чечни, примкнувших к ИГ, уничтожено

14 October, 2015

Translated by Kristina Rus

Most of the natives of Chechnya, who joined the terrorist group "Islamic state" have been destroyed, said Wednesday the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.

He also noted that the authorities also helped many young people to return from Syria to civilian life. According to him, the returnees are engaged in education programs for young people which counter the terrorist ideology.

"Most of those who joined the "Iblis state" have been destroyed. We have done our part so that they don't get back to the Republic and shed the blood of innocent people" — said the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov.

Kadyrov noted that in order to prevent the joining of young people into the ranks of criminal groups, theologians with higher Islamic education are working around the clock.
