Are claims that there will be no war wishful thinking?

Looking at the tea leaves it is hard to escape the conclusion that things are going along the lines of the buildup to the 2003 invasion of Iraq minus the “coalition of the willing”. The whole world is against this insane neocon war. America is weakened by defeats in Syria and Venezuela (and elsewhere) and the only thing going for it is overwhelming firepower.

On balance things do not look at all good.
