Millions of thaw lakes in Siberia

Changes in Siberia



This is a view from Google Earth of Chersky, Russia and surrounding areas. This does not look like frozen tundra. It looks more like a swamp.

These are thaw lakes that have methane bubbling up from them.

The warmer run off waters go into the river's and flow into the Arctic Ocean.

Take a look for yourself on Google Earth. Go over toward the Ural Mountains and look to the East
