Freezing on the Gulf Coast

Meanwhile temperatures were higher in North Pole, Alaska, and even in Greenland.

Sub-freezing temperatures being funneled south by an Arctic high made it to to the Gulf Coast right before moisture moved out of the region. Mid-level temperatures were not cold enough for a full-fledged snow event. Rather, a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and a few flurries resulted in travel woes across much of Louisiana. Nearly all bridges and overpasses have had to be shutdown as they iced over.
