In addition to more than 100 cold-related injuries the freeze resulted in some flight cancellations due to low visibility, and the cancellation of classes throughout Yakutsk.

The recorded historic low in Yakutsk was only four degrees colder than on Wednesday, measured at -64.4°C (-83.9°F), whereas the record high reached 38.4 °C (101.1 °F).
