BEIRUT,
LEBANON (6:00 A.M.) – U.S. President Donald Trump told the Fox
Business Network on Tuesday evening that he is not planning on
invading Syria.
“We’re
not going into Syria,” Trump asserted in his interview.
Trump
stated his reason for attacking Syria was purely to deter the Syrian
Government from using chemical weapons.
“But
when I see people using horrible, horrible chemical weapons – which
they agreed not to use under the Obama administration, but they
violated it,” the president said, as quoted by The Hill.
“What
I did should have been done with the Obama administration long before
I did it. And you would have had a much better — I think Syria
would be a lot better off right now than it has been,” Trump added.
Since
the attack on the Syrian airbase, the Trump administration has come
under harsh criticism from the Kremlin, causing tension between both
governments on the international stage.
