Earthquake
flurry jolts central NZ

A
flurry of six earthquakes have struck the country overnight, with the
strongest, a magnitude 4.9, hitting off Seddon.
The
4.9 magntiude quake, which struck just before 1am, was centred 25km
south-east of Seddon at a depth of 22km.
It
was followed by several smaller aftershocks, the biggest of which was
a magnitude 4.5 quake 30km east of Seddon at 6.38am.
GeoNet
had reported a magnitude 4.5 quake 15km northwest of Christchurch at
4.12am, but this has since been removed.
