ISIS lost most of its ammunition & heavy vehicles in Russian airstrikes – military

RT,
13 October, 2015

Islamic State militants have lost "most" of their ammunition, heavy vehicles and equipment in Russian airstrikes, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday. At least 86 ISIS targets were hit during 88 sorties in the last 24 hours.

Sukhoi Su-24M and Su-34 bombers, together with Su-25SM ground support aircrafts targeted Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) sites in the provinces of Raqqah, Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Aleppo, according to the ministry. The jets hit command posts, ammunition and armament depots, military vehicles, plants producing explosives, field camps and bases.

Su-24M bombers also targeted an IS field headquarters near the city of Anadan in the province of Aleppo from which the terrorists coordinated their activities. There was an ammunition depot at the site, the ministry said.

One more IS field post was destroyed near the city of al-Bab in Aleppo Province.

A new set of videos was released showing targets hit in Latakia and Hama.

An Su-34 bomber airstrike completely destroyed a bunker with an ammunition depot near Latamna in the province of Hama, the ministry said in a press release.

According to intercepted communications, the militants suffer from shortages of ammunition, small arms and grenade guns. Several commanders allegedly say they will withdraw their units unless their ammunition needs are satisfied.

Russian airstrikes resulted in the elimination of the majority of ISIS ammunition, heavy vehicles and equipment,” the Defense Ministry tweeted.

Russia launched its anti-IS military operation in Syria on September, 30, at the request of the Syrian government. Western countries have voiced concerns that Russia rather targets moderate opposition in Syria, but Moscow says it is after terrorist groups such as IS and Al-Nusra Front.

[Western countries] say we are bombing false targets. On Sunday US air forces targeted a power station and a transformer in Aleppo. Why did they do it? Whom did they punish? What was the sense? That is unclear,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense has prepared an agreement concerning the safety of flights in Syria and sent it to US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, who confirmed that talks are being held. However, no agreements have yet been reached, RIA Novosti reported.

Islamic State Declares Holy War Against Russia

The Islamic State (ISIL) has called on Muslims worldwide to launch jihad against Russian and US citizens.

13 October, 2015

Islamic State spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani called on the Muslim youth worldwide to start a holy war against Russians and Americans, who, according to ISIL, are waging a "crusaders' war" against Muslims, as cited by Reuters.
Russia and the United States are carrying out separate campaigns against the Islamic State. Moscow launched airstrikes on ISIL targets in Syria on September 30, following a request from Syria's President Bashar Assad. Since September 2014, a US-led coalition has been bombing ISIL positions in Syria without the approval of the UN Security Council or Syrian authorities.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters that Islamic State fighters have lost a large part of their weapons and equipment since Russia has stepped up its airstrikes in Syria. This has forced the group to "set in motion the entire logistics network available to the terrorists in order to transport ammunition and fuel from the Raqqa province."
In the past 24 hours, Russian aircraft carried out 88 sorties on 86 terrorist infrastructure positions in the Raqqa, Hama, Idlib, Latakia, and Aleppo regions in Syria.

Islamist Rebels Shell Pro-Russia Rally in Damascus; Civilian Casualties Reported

13 October, 2015

On Tuesday morning, the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) launched a number of mortar shells into the densely populated Syrian capital of Damascus, hitting the Russian Embassy in the Al-Mazra’a District, where a throng of civilians were rallying in support of the Russian Federation and their president, Vladimir Putin.
Preliminary reports from Damascus indicate that a number of civilians were hospitalized and in critical condition from the indiscriminate mortar shells fired by Jaysh Al-Islam; this is not the first time that this Islamist group has targeted civilians inside of Damascus – they launch dozens of mortar shells and rockets into the Syrian capital on a daily basis.
The mortar shells fired by Jaysh Al-Islam today were not accidental, as the Islamist group has declared war against the Russian Federation, despite their clear limitations and inability to fight their way out of the besieged East Ghouta region inside the Rif Dimashq Governorate’s eastern countryside.

Jaysh Al-Islam’s leader – Zahran Alloush – has bragged about these terrorist attacks in the past, boasting that more were to come in response to the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) siege of the desolate farm area in the East Ghouta; it should be noted that Zahran Alloush was a notorious criminal that spent time in Saydnaya Prison before the Syrian Opposition demanded his release.

Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – have entered the village of Tartiyah inside the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside after advancing from their positions at the town of Kafr Dalbeh.

According to a military source inside the town of Slunfeh (northeast Latakia), the Syrian Armed Forces broke-through the frontline defenses of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and entered Tartiyah; this progess was followed by series of airstrikes from the Russian Air Force, who could be seen flying above the advancing soldiers from the SAA and the NDF.

Meanwhile, directly to the west of Tartiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces continued their advance in the strategic city of Salma, capturing a number of small buildings outside of the 107th Rocket Brigade Base before destroying a Jabhat Al-Nusra hideout inside the southern district.

In addition to their success at Salma and Tartiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces reportedly killed 34 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army’s “Coastal Brigades” at the city of Al-Rabi’yah in northern Latakia – of the 34 militants reportedly killed by the Syrian Armed Forces, 3 of them were identified as Turkish citizens.

The Russian Air Force has responded to the Islamist rebels shelling their embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday morning with a relentless series of airstrikes over the Idlib Governorate’s western countryside, hitting numerous sites belonging to the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Ansar Al-Sham.

Among the Russian Air Force’s targets was the Islamist stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour; this city was pounded with airstrikes from the Russian Air Force’s MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunships that could be seen from the Latakia border chasing militants attempting to flee towards the Turkish border.

According to a Syrian military source inside the town of Slunfeh, scores of Islamist fighters were captured by Russian satellite imagery attempting to flee the city of Jisr Al-Shughour towards the nearby Turkish border-crossing; this information only intensified the Russian Air Force’s attacks at Jisr Al-Shughour and its neighboring village of Al-Ghassaniyah.

The Russian Federation has made it no secret that they are targeting both the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” inside Syria; this has agitated the Saudi regime and their allies, but their discontent has been met with intensified airstrikes by the Russian Air Force.

Recently, pro-Saudi news outlets have reported the delivery of 500 more anti-tank TOW missiles to the Islamist rebels fighting the Syrian government inside Syria; however, there has been no official confirmation to verify this alleged report.
