Another derailment

Train Derails in Greenup County, Ky.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews were at the scene of a train derailment late Monday night in the South Shore area along U.S. 23.

As many as five railroad cars went off the tracks, but they did not overturn.

Four of the cars were carrying ethanol, and one was empty, according to crews at the scene.

The derailment was reported about 8:45 p.m. Monday.

As noted, the CSX southbound train never tipped over and never leaked ethanol. HazMat crews called to the scene were able to go home early, but it was expected to be a long night for the crews working to get the cars back on track.

The cause was unknown, but there was talk among railroad crew members that temperature extremes could have played a role.

This should be seen in context
