Hurricane "Delta" is now a major" hurricane

Hurricane "Delta" Goes from 70 to 110 MPH in 12 Hours! Now "Major" Hurricane

Folks, we've got a problem: Hurricane Delta, which crossed the threshold from a Tropical Storm (sustained winds 39 - 73 MPH) to a Hurricane (sustained winds greater than 74 MPH) by 9:00 last night last night, increased in strength to a "major" hurricane in the last ten hours.

As of 8:00 AM this morning, the storm now has sustained winds of 110 MPH.  The storm is heading for Louisiana's coastline in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm is heading form the Atlantic Ocean into the Gulf of Mexico.   It will pass thru the area between western Cuba and the eastern Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico later today, and make a beeline toward Louisiana, arriving on Friday, somewhere slightly west of New Orleans.

Landfall is presently forecast in the area between Cameron and Pecan Island, but this could change.
