Radiation excluded from insurance coverage

Despite the source this is easily verfiable

Fukushima Damage Not Covered By Some US Insurance Companies

West Coast residents listen up and listen carefully because those in denial or simply ignorant of the massive radiation they are being exposed to since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami crippled Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant, are about to be hung out to dry by their insurance companies, starting with anyone covered by Traveler’s Insurance Company.

Recent letters sent out to those insured are informing them that radiation damage will no longer be covered.

For Americans the nuclear disaster that was set-off by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Fukushima, Japan in March 2011 was a tragic story not expected to significantly impact the United States!

Since that time, however, anecdotal evidence suggests that the nuclear waste and radiation flowing from the core of the crippled reactors that has yet to be contained is indeed beginning to affect the west coast of the United States.

So what does this story have to do with real estate?

Perhaps nothing but perhaps a great deal as insurers appear to have begun to add language to their policies that would exclude claims due to certain aspects of nuclear energy.

The endorsement changes were reported to have been sent by the Traveler’s Insurance Company.

The endorsement referred to below will be embedded at the bottom of this article.

Turner Radio Network has the language in the letters sent to customers, notifying them of their policy changes:

Dear Policyholder;
Thank you for choosing Travelers. We are providing advance notice of changes affecting your renewal policy or notification of renewal premium. Please consult Travelers Service Center for guidance in reviewing the information contained in this notice.

Your renewal policy will provide changes in coverage because of underwriting judgment based on an evaluation of your
individual risk exposures and/or loss history.

The following is changed on your renewal:
Coverage Change Details
IL 00 21 09 08 NUCLEAR ENERGY LIABILITY EXCLUSION ENDORSEMENT FORM HAS BEEN ADDED TO YOUR POLICY

Those who have their heads buried in the sand still are in for a huge surprise when the government finally admits the truth that people with Geiger counters have been showing for months, that the radiation levels are high and rising, but by then it will be too late because no one is going to offer coverage.
