“Paranoia” i show the western media has described the Iranian attitude.
If you were faced by an Israel with nuclear weapons (not to mention India and Pakistan) and were surrounded by a military power that has a beligerent foreign policy (along with Arab neigbours), military bases in all the surrounding countries and weapons that nobody else (even the Russians) has - well, would you call that “paranoia”
Iran, it could be pointed out has not attacked another country for 200 years.
This situation is close to the situation described by Mike Ruppert in a 2002 article in From the Wilderness.

Business Insider,

Between its nuclear program and its general sabre rattling foreign policy, Iran's position with the U.S., and the world, is easy to take for outright aggression.
With that in mind, it's interesting to look at the world as Iran sees it from inside its borders.
This map from Democratic Underground puts a star on every U.S. military base in the region, and aside from the Caspian area to the North, American forces pretty much have Tehran surrounded (via Informed Comment).
