Obama stepped up cyberattacks on Iran: report

US news media are reporting that Washington and Israel have been collaborating 


to launch cyberattacks targeting Iran's nuclear programme.

In a report by the New York Times, top anonymous US officials confirmed that the National Security Agency, with the help of Israeli experts, may have taken out nearly one thousand of Iran's five thousand centrifuges with a sophisticated cyber programme.

The Obama administration has been linked to being involved in a covert war with Iran, and the players include both the US and Israel. The difference here, however, is that this war is over computer systems. Are the results the same as on a physical battlefield though? Some are saying that Obama has continued former President Bush's "Olympic Games" cyberwar program but have been more aggressive by using weapons such as the Stuxnet worm. The virus was an attempt to disrupt Iran's nuclear program and Barrett Brown, founder of Project PM, joins us with more on the new front-lines of war.

From his first months in office, President Obama secretly ordered increasingly sophisticated attacks on the computer systems that run Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facilities, significantly expanding America’s first sustained use of cyberweapons, according to participants in the program.
