Face masks now mandatory

Face masks are now mandatory for all residents over the age of 12 in greater metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
Premier Daniel Andrews said masks would be mandatory for as long as they were effective in preventing community transmission.
Police have the power to issue on-the-spot $200 fines to anyone not wearing a mask without a valid medical exception.
Major supermarkets including Coles and Woolworths said they would refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask and would call police if customers refused to comply.
Victoria yesterday recorded a record 484 new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.
Premier Andrews said nine out of every 10 people who tested positive to the virus did not self-isolate upon falling ill.
He also said five out of every 10 refused to self-isolate while awaiting their test results.

All of Sydney could be barred from entering Queensland from today
All five million Sydney residents could be barred from entering Queensland from as early as today.
Queensland Police flagged it was ready to enforce the ban if the number of coronavirus cases continued to surge in New South Wales.
