5.9 quake strikes western Mexico
A
strong 5.9-magntiude earthquake hit western Mexico on Sunday,
the US Geological Survey reports. The epicenter of the quake was
located at a depth of almost 74 km in the state of Michoacan, 35 km
northeast of the city of Lazaro Cardenas. There were no immediate
reports of damage or casualties but a Reuters witness said buildings
shook and residents ran outdoors in the capital, Mexico City.

aftershocks registered in China since Saturday 6.6 earthquake
Over
2,000 aftershocks have been registered in China in two days since 6.6
earthquake struck the country's south-western Sichuan province, the
strongest being magnitude 5.9. Aftershocks are still continuing. Two
hundred and two people are confirmed dead from the quake, while more
than 11,500 were injured. Rescue works continue around the clock in
the quake-hit regions.
