Huxley's Brave New World was a set text at college in the 70's. Since then I think they had us read the wrong book. His novel Island is the flip side of Brave New World. Set on a remote Island of Pala where the inhabitants have created a utopia by barring Missionaries, Arms dealers and Indiscriminate heavy industrial development. fusing Hindu and Buddhism thinking tey have no need for the consumerism of "civilisation'
