Radioactivity in North Carolina

Radioactive Rain, Chapel Hill, NC, 142 CPM, May 1, 2012

A short video of a 10 minute timed count that I did on a light rainstorm that we had today, May 1, 2012, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This sample was collected by wiping down about a square meter of the windshield and driver's side window on my Toyota Tacoma.

The truck was washed last Thursday, so the sample likely includes some dry deposition. This is a significantly high reading, however there have been many higher readings locally, regionally and globally in the past few weeks - including in South Brazil, Missouri, Hawaii, California, North Carolina and South England.

Of course Japan has the highest readings of all -- that goes without saying.

The Fukushima and other nuclear disasters in Japan, overlain over the top of previous intentional weapons testing and bombing, uranium mining, nuclear power and nuclear "accidents" all contribute to elevated radiation levels globally.

There were two large explosions at a chemical plant that had large amounts of Depleted Uranium (DU) stored on site 10 days ago in Southern Japan and many of the recent high readings are potentially correlated with that event
