Petrol prices head downwards

Gull says the major oil companies have followed its lead in dropping fuel prices.

Z Energy cut the price of petrol by four cents a litre this morning.

The company said easing global fuel prices and a stabilising kiwi dollar had enabled the move.

The decrease takes Z's national prices to $2.159 per litre for 91 octane petrol, $2.239 per litre for 95 octane petrol. The price of diesel was cut by three cents a litre to $153.9.

But Gull says it dropped its pricing to $2.159 for regular and $1.529 for diesel 10 days ago despite volatility in world commodity prices and the exchange rate.
