Faulty
system leaves millions hungry in India
There
are more than 200 million hungry and malnourished people in India,
despite it being one of the largest grain producers in the world.
The
government has a food security programme under which millions are
entitled to subsidised grain.
But
every year, tons of food goes to waste because of faulty storage
facilities and an incompetent public distribution system.
