Fascism in Australia

This article confuses fascism with nazism.

Never mind. The warnings are clear

AUSTRALIAN FASCISM: We are not there yet – but the signs are becoming increasingly obvious.

The Germans living under the Weimar Republic in the 1920s had no idea of what was to come. They could not have conceived that within the space of a few short years they would find themselves suppressed and divided under the totalitarian regime of the National Socialist Party.

That Party was hardly socialist in ethos, and it was not supported nationwide by the majority of considered intelligent people, nevertheless the Party proclaimed its own mandate and subsequently dropped a decade of horror and bestiality upon the rest of the world.

Just like those unsuspecting Germans of long ago, we Australians consider ourselves to be a cultured and homogenous grouping of people lazily wending our way along under the benign gaze of the Southern Cross. Yet, right in front of us, right now, the signs and portents of the coming suppression are writ large right across our national landscape and psyche. And too many of us don’t even appear to notice, or care all that much. By so doing we are treading a very dangerous path.

It does not matter whether we are Coalition, Labor, Greens, or Independent supporters – we are all subject to the dictatorial policies that have been flowing out of Canberra over the last year or so. It would pay us all well to have a very hard think about, and a very close look at, the type of fundamentalists who have hijacked the higher echelons of the Liberal Party of Australia.

These fundamentalists, and we all know who they are, do not represent Liberalism in the purest sense of the word. They are social engineers who, under the guise of a self-proclaimed mandate, fully intend to reshape the social structure of our beloved country. They gained power at any cost, and they are prepared to pay any cost to retain it. To paraphrase Malcolm Fraser, it is not so much that he has moved to the left, it is a case that elements in the Liberal Party have moved to the far-right.

As a Government, they have invented a refugee crisis to scare those amongst us who are all too easily fooled and scared. Australia does not have a refugee crisis and it has never had one. The policy has been designed to appeal to, and secure the vote of, the worst type of xenophobe residing in our midst.

The policy has been very successful, and by demonising genuine refugees as no better than sub-human animals who deserve an unrelenting regime of close confinement and continual mental torture – our Government has tacked the words ‘Stop The Boats’alongside that other infamous three word slogan that the National Socialist Party of Germany tacked above the main gate of Auschwitz Concentration Camp: ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’, Work Makes You Free. Morrison is not an enlightened man.

As a Government, they have invented a National Security crisis in order to allow draconian spying legislation through our national Senate. On the surface it is aimed squarely at the Muslim Community, and it is quite worrying how a large proportion of our population has rolled over and accepted this particular demonising of yet another group of ‘strangers in our midst’.

The reality is this legislation is aimed squarely at all of us. It is inevitable that, fairly soon, anybody who opposes this legislation publicly will be termed Un-Australian, and not a member of Team Australia. It would pay us all well to re-read Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm, because the warnings contained therein apply acutely to the Australia of today.Brandis is not an enlightened man.

As a Government, they have withdrawn Science, Arts, Education, and Social Welfare funding. They have demonised the science behind Climate Change; they seek to re-engineer our education system under an extreme right-wing religious ideology which has nothing to do with what mainstream Christianity is all about; they seek to herd the unemployed and the disadvantaged under their own version of the Nazi gated slogan ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’. Abbott is not an enlightened man.

As a Government, they demonise Unions and support Big Business, and seek to re-work the Industrial Relations landscape to favour their Corporate and Mining supporters. They withdraw funds from the Royal Commission into Institutionalised Child Sexual Abuse and pour those funds into Royal Commissions designed to demonise their political opponents. It is a path well trodden previously by the National Socialist Party of Germany.

Totalitarian Regimes resort to war as a first choice in achieving foreign policy objectives. Legislative bodies, Parliaments, the Judiciary, and the People, are denied any input into, or oversight over, military adventurism in pursuit of economic objectives. Our Government is yet again taking us into war in Iraq, and any Australian Political Party that stands in opposition to this move is either ignored, or demonised by, a compliant media.

Too many of our media proprietors, in pursuit of their own commercial interests, willingly promote the negative and divisive social engineering policies promulgated at the highest levels within the Liberal Party of Australia.

Totalitarian Regimes target the intellectuals, the artists, the educated, the clerics, the free-thinkers, the scientists, the disabled, and the powerless. They are the first to ‘go’ and that is exactly who the extreme elements at the top of the Liberal Party of Australia are targeting right now. The only people who are not targeted are those people who believe the scare-mongering, and who remain quietly compliant.

The extremists at the top of the Liberal Party of Australia are not enlightened people. They are decidedly dangerous people.

The only people who can stop them are the normal Coalition, Labor, Greens, and Independent voters of this country. All of us remain silent at our peril.

FASCISM – we are not there yet – the Jackboots aren’t outside our doors just yet - but the signs are becoming increasingly obvious.
