Victorian bushfires

Don't think the bushfires have gone away.

Victorian bushfire threatens homes
A LARGE, out-of-control bushfire continues to threaten homes on the outskirts of the central Victorian community of Violet Town

28 January, 2013

The 2000-hectare blaze was burning within 10km of the town today, threatening homes at Boho, on the town's southern outskirts.

A watch and act warning is in place for areas south of Violet Town, with the fire expected to effect Boho before 12.15pm (AEDT) today.

A State Emergency Centre spokeswoman says the blaze is moving in a north easterly direction, causing spotfires around a kilometre ahead of the fire front.

More than 30 fire trucks are at the scene.

A 60-year-old man was burned on the legs as he fought the grassfire that initiated the bigger blaze on Sunday afternoon.

He suffered burns to around 18 per cent of his body and was treated at the scene.
